Complaints procedure

How to raise a concern and what happens next.

Tell us what has happened

We aim to resolve concerns fairly, respectfully and as close to the issue as possible. Raising a complaint will not disadvantage a child or affect the way they are treated.

Step 1: informal resolution

Speak to the teacher or Centre Lead, who will listen, clarify the concern and try to agree a practical resolution. Many misunderstandings can be resolved quickly this way.

Step 2: formal complaint

If the issue remains unresolved, send a written complaint to the centre. Include what happened, relevant dates, who was involved, any action already taken and the outcome you are seeking. The centre will acknowledge it, investigate proportionately and explain the outcome and any action to be taken.

Step 3: further escalation

If you remain dissatisfied, ask the centre to explain the appropriate escalation route. This may involve the relevant Kip McGrath organisation, a referring school or local authority, Ofsted, or another regulator, depending on the nature of the complaint. Data-protection complaints may be taken to the ICO.

Safeguarding concerns

A concern that a child may be at risk will be handled under safeguarding procedures rather than waiting for the ordinary complaints process. Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger.
